Kitui Rural Sub-County, Kiusyani MarketWednesday, May 15, 2024A section of Honourable Members led by Hon. Bonface Mukwate Katula (Kanyangi), today pitched tent at Anglican Church of Kenya, Kiusyani, where they collected views from the public on the proposed Kitui County Budget Estimates for the 2024/2025 financial year during day one of public participation exercise.
Members of the public drawn from Kisasi, Mbitini, Kanyangi and Kwa Vonza/ Yatta wards who turned up in large numbers to give their views on the proposed budget estimates, passionately discussed, raised concerns, and proposal, key among: them tarmacking of 1.5 kilometers of road in Kiusyani Sub- county headquarters under dustless towns programme, increasing of dozing works from 5 kilometers to 30 kilometers per ward and upgrading of Kiusyani health facility to Sub-county hospital.
In addition, residents proposed allocation for Community Level Infrastructure Development Programme (CLIDP) to be increased from the current Kshs. 710 million to Kshs. 1.4 Billion, Improving electricity connectivity in the sub-county, increasing water sources through digging of more borehole, pipeline extensions and construction of sump wells.
They also stressed the need to renovate market shades, construction of Boda boda sheds and street lighting.In his closing remarks, Hon. Katula thanked the locals for not only turning up in large numbers, but also for participating actively in today’s forum. He further assured them that their views will be incorporated in the final committee report.
