On Wednesday, April 17, 2024, The Speaker, Honorable Kevin Kinengo Katisya, accompanied by esteemed members of the assembly, convened alongside His Excellency, Deputy Governor Augustine Wambua Kanani, who also serves as the CECM for Tourism, Wildlife, Hospitality, and Game Reserves, to embark on a tour of Mutomo Reptile Park in Mutomo Ward.
During the visit, the Deputy Governor unveiled the park’s ambitious vision, highlighting its future role as both a premier tourist destination and a vital hub for snake venom extraction and research. “Our objective is to house a diverse range of snake species, from the renowned to the rare,” emphasized the Deputy Governor.
In a show of solidarity, Chairperson for the Committee on Tourism and Natural Resources, Honorable Titus Kasinga (Mumoni), advocated for the allocation of sufficient resources by the County Assembly to ensure the successful establishment and operation of the park.
Speaker Kinengo reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to supporting the Deputy Governor’s vision, pledging full cooperation to see the completion and effective functioning of the park. He underscored the significant benefits the project would bring not only to the residents of Kitui but to the entire nation.
