May 17, 2024, Mwingi West Sub-County – A total of 151 residents of Kavuvwani in the Kiomo/Kyethani Ward attended a community forum today aimed at raising awareness about the National Agricultural Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP). The event is part of the ongoing countywide community entry Barazas designed to engage the public in agricultural development initiatives.
Led by Daniel Munyoki, the Sub-County Crops Officer, and David Mwanzia, the PICD Ward Team Leader, the forum is a crucial component of the Participatory Integrated Community Development (PICD) program.
This initiative, organized by the County Government, is being conducted across all 40 wards. Its primary objective is to involve community members in evaluating their local environment and existing developments, identifying gaps, and planning future developmental opportunities that align with the goals of the NAVCDP.
Residents actively participated in the discussions, highlighting the importance of community involvement in developmental planning and the potential benefits of the NAVCDP in enhancing agricultural productivity and value chains in the region. The forum provided a platform for exchanging ideas and fostering a collaborative approach to local development.
The NAVCDP aims to improve agricultural productivity and sustainability by enhancing value chains, which is expected to contribute significantly to the economic growth of the region. The PICD forums, such as the one held in Kavuvwani, are vital in ensuring that these goals are met by directly involving the community in the planning and implementation processes.
