Meru County Deputy Speaker Mwenda Ali escapes death narrowly after sustaining injuries in a grisly road accident along Meru-Embu road on Tuesday. The accident saw the deputy speaker lose his daughter by the name Mellisa Makena.
The tragedy struck when Mr Ali was travelling from Meru to Nairobi with his two children and a driver. The accident occurred when Mr Ali’s car collided head-on with a Toyota double cabin before bursting into flames.
According to sources, the deputy speaker was en route to see his wife who is currently hospitalized and is to be airlifted to India for treatment. It is at Gatunduri in Embu County where Mr. Ali was involved in the fatal accident together with his family as his car burns down into ashes.
His beloved daughter died on the spot while the other child was airlifted together with his dad to Karen Hospital in Nairobi both with serious injuries.
The witnesses who narrated how they heard a loud bang and rushed to the scene, have labeled the place a blind spot and warned the drivers to be careful whenever approaching the area.
