In a statement released by the Tanzania Football Federation(TFF) on Friday, Taifa Stars head coach Adel Amrouche has been sacked following his ban by the Confederation of African Football(CAF). The announcement was made on TFF social media pages through an official statement signed by Communications Officer Clifford Mario Ndimbo.
The Algerian-born coach was earlier in the week quoted to have made remarks implying that Morocco has undue influence in the African football and can collaborate with referees to influence decisions.
These comments did not go down well with CAF leading to an eight-match ban and $10,000 fine by CAF’s discipline Committee after the Royal Moroccan Football Federation(RMFF) filed complaints against the coach.
Taifa stars of Tanzania lost 3-0 to Morocco in their opening match of Group F. The Tanzanian will meet Zambia’s Copper Bullets on Sunday at 8:00 p.m. at Stade Laurent Pokou in San Pedro, Ivory Coast.
Mr. Amrouche managed Harambee Stars of Kenya but he fell out with the Football Kenya Federation(FKF) members in 2014 after the team’s poor performance. This was in a CAF preliminary round match against Lesotho home and away, a result which saw Kenya miss out on the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. He later sued Kenya for wrongful dismissal and demanded Ksh. 108 Million.
In his place, Hemed Suleiman Morocco will serve as the interim coach assisted by Juma Mgunda.
