Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has given Ex-Kenyan boxing Champion Conjestina Achieng another chance of rescue as he takes her back to a rehabilitation centre.
Sonko, who has never given up on being a philanthropist in Kenya, stated through his X handle that he is a person who doesn’t give up in life and it is for that reason he has given Conjestina the last chance to continue with her healing journey. This comes after sports media personality Carol Radull shared a sad update on the former boxing champion.
Radull had visited Conjestina in Yala on 2nd January this year and expressed concern indicating that Conjestina was back to the old lifestyle where she was facing mental health challenge. Radull stated that many have tried to help her but none has succeeded in a long term solution to her predicament.
This update by Radull elicited mixed reactions to fans others accusing Sonko of using her to his populism agenda. Sonko later refuted such allegations and shared a phone call audio between him and Conjestina’s son where Sonko was concerned about her welfare and explained how she left because of misunderstanding.
Sonko appreciated Mombasa Women’s Hospital management led by Hon. Amina Abdalla, for accepting the former boxing star back to the facility. Achieng had left the rehab centre in June 2023 and immediately joined Sonko’s security detail in the coastal region, where she was the head of the head of security in Kanamai.
